Took up trumpet in 1980 and his first band, at 18yo, was the ‘John Rae Collective’ in which were Rae, Brian Kellock and Phil Bancroft. Was with pop band ‘Hue and Cry’, the ‘Tom Bancroft Orchestra’ and with Tommy Smith. Toured and played extensively in Europe in 1990s and was, for a time based in France, London and Italy. Modern/folk influenced trumpet player in tradition of Chet Baker and Miles Davis who became a member of the traditionally styled ‘Jerry Forde’s New Phoenix JB’ in about 2013.
