Jazz afficionado and jazz promoter. Founded, with Violet Milne, and ran ‘Jazz n’ Jive Club’ at Fairmile Inn in early 21st century and later continued at Heriots Rugby Club Pavilion from about 2006. Producer of recordings of local bands, many made during sessions at the J ’n J Club. Researcher into sound recordings of local jazz. Compiled Edinburgh traditional jazz discography for Graham Blamire’s 2012 publication ‘Edinburgh Jazz Enlightenment – the story of Edinburgh traditional jazz’. Became a member of the Edinburgh Jazz Archive Group, taking responsibility for sound recordings, often cleaning up and converting to digital many very early recordings originally made on 78rpm acetate discs. Is now the treasurer of the Scottish Jazz Archive.
